Who’s Your Daddy?
May 7, 2008
There is something that I have noticed in the last few days. We, or at least I do, live in a world where people are unfairly rewarded. People are given special things because they supposedly did something good that improved the community, but really they didn’t do much of anything. People are called ‘Good Citizens’ when they’ve done no more for their community than the next person. Yet they get treated all special and yadda yadda.
Or people are given say, a scholarship, because of who their daddy is. ‘Oh you’re John Doe’s son? Well here have two thousand dollars’. Do they deserve what they get? Maybe they actually do deserve it, but it seems to me like a lot of people are given special things and chances because their father is well-known and liked.
Why does it matter who someone’s father is? If they don’t deserve something, then they don’t deserve something. Give it to someone who does deserve it, and who may need it. For the record, I’m not being sour. I’m honestly stating that some people deserve something, but instead, Miss Mary Sue, who has never lifted a finger in her life is rewarded because Papa Sue is the mayor’s third cousin twice removed.
But, there is hope. God is a fair judge (Psalm 7:11), and He will reward each of us for the good acts we carried out in life. Everyone will be given rewards based on what they did. Everyone will deserve the reward they get.
In closing, I’m going to take back some words I said earlier. It DOES matter who someone’s Father is.
Through faith in Christ, we are made like Him. Christ was the Son of God. What are we?
Galatians 3:26-28
You are all children of God through faith in Christ Jesus. And all who have been united with Christ in baptism have been made like him. There is no longer Jew or Gentile, slave or free, male and female. For you are all one in Christ Jesus.
Great post
